The
Outagamie County Regional Airport is jumping into social media with both feet.
This week, the airport is holding a scavenger hunt for some cute Florida
oranges that will net the winner four free tickets to Orlando (courtesy of
Allegiant Air).  The clue will be given
out at noon today on the airport’s Facebook page.

The
airport is promoting the contest with tweets, Facebook updates and short video
clips. The goal is to create excitement and, of course, attract more Twitter
followers and Facebook fans. Of course, it also draws attention to Allegiant’s
flights from the Greenville airport to Florida.

People
go back and forth about the value of social media, but activities like the
airport’s scavenger hunt create excitement and show how Twitter, Facebook, etc.
can be used for business promotion without heavy ad costs.

So when
you’re out and about today and see some oranges – I heard they’re in Oshkosh –
you may just win yourself a trip to Florida.
