With work being done
in Winnebago and Brown counties, the US 41 project is the largest road projects
ever for Northeast Wisconsin. To help drivers easily access information, the
Wisconsin Department of Transportation is debuting a new website that will
provide drivers with all the information they need to plan their travels or
their daily commutes.

Construction activity
is ramping up significantly in Winnebago County and will begin in Brown County
this fall.
The
project includes 31 miles of US 41 in Brown and Winnebago counties and will
include road expansion to accommodate increased traffic volume, 44 new
roundabouts, improved interchanges and expansion of the Lake Butte des Morts
Causeway.

The
website includes an interactive map showing the construction site, updates on
closures, information on navigating roundabouts, a summary of the project’s
special features and galleries featuring photos of the construction as it
proceeds. A version of the Web site is currently being developed to accommodate
mobile handheld devices.

With
the US 41 project slated to last several years, it’s a good bet this website
will see plenty of traffic itself.
