New North firms win state environmental honors

Several New North companies earned Thursday the Business Friend of the Environment Award for leadership in pollution prevention, environmental innovation and environmental stewardship, according to Wisconsin Manufacturers Commerce (WMC).

WMC announced Thursday.

The 2011 Business Friend of the Environment Awards is presented by the Wisconsin Environmental Working Group (WEWG), an affiliate of WMC.

Here are the winners from the New North:

Pollution Prevention: Fox River Fiber of De Pere won in the small category while Green Bay Packaging Inc.-Green Bay Coated Products won in the large division.

Environmental Stewardship: Briess Industries of Chilton won in the medium category and Menasha Corp. of Neenah won in the large category.
