Pulse, the Young Professionals Network, is teaming up with Appleton Downtown Inc. from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Houdini Plaza. The New North Sustainability Committee is planning a workshop on Sept. 13 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to discuss what needs to be done to prepare the region for climate change. The workshop is designed for planners and other professionals and will address land use, public health, stormwater, emergency preparedness and natural resource management issues. The workshop will look at the climate change science and the effect the issue has on the New North; climate adaptation planning processes and strategies; tools, data and resources for climate adaptation planning; and regional examples of climate planning. The Wisconsin Security Research Consortium is planning its Resource Rendezvous at the Crowne Plaza in Wauwatosa on Sept. 15. Speakers from the National Security Agency, the U.S. Marine Corps, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Homeland Security and more are expected. This event offers opportunities for companies to present their ideas to federal science and technology scouts and offers seminars on how to prepare your company to apply for federal grants and contracts.
