Panelists: to get into defense, think long term

The defense industry supply chains in the region are thriving, but getting into them entails such a level of dedication and detail that it should not be entered into lightly, panelists agreed at Wednesday’s Manufacturing First conference. Multiple sessions focused on defense contracts and supply chains, including the luncheon panel. As one panelist at the lunch session, Chuck Wallschlaeger, a government contract specialist with the Business Procurement Assistance Center at Madison Area Technical College ( puts it, when manufacturers think about getting into defense, “they need to think about it as a long term strategy.”
