Steve R Jenkins is the new president of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation. He replaces Brenda Hicks-Sorensen, who left in June to be vice president of economic and community development with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

Jenkins most recently was senior vice president of economic development at GO Topeka Economic Partnership where he focused on results in business attraction, existing business and entrepreneurial development programs. During his tenure at GO Topeka more than $694 million was invested in capital projects and 3,000 primary jobs were created with an average wage of $45,000. Some of the projects Jenkins took part in include Mars Chocolate North American with 425 jobs, Bimbo Bakeries USA with 85 jobs and The Home Depot Rapid Deployment Center with 300 jobs.

Jenkins, who will start his new role in mid-February, will oversee all aspects of FCEDC including the finalization and execution of the 2012-2014 strategic plan. He will also work closely with all FCEDC partners and stakeholders to better the economy and quality of life in Fond du Lac County.
