Management Women, Inc. is hosting a luncheon program from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Brett Favre’s Steakhouse in Green Bay. Robyn Davis, president of Freedom House Ministries, will present the program, “Poverty: It is in Our Backyard.” Davis will discuss the growing challenge of poverty in Northeast Wisconsin and ways that women in management can be part of the solution. - Sunday, June 24: The Chamber Challenge, a competition of two- and four-person relay teams participating in the HFM Maritime Marathon, will be sponsored by The Chamber of Manitowoc County. Chamber member businesses wishing to participate are encouraged to gather up relay teams consisting of employees, co-workers, spouses, children or grandkids together to participate in the relay race. Cash donations will be made in the name of the chamber-member business that each relay team is representing and donated to team’s declared charity partner. Charity partners must be a non-profit doing business in Manitowoc County. Teams can register for the race by going to www.maritimemarathon.net. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. at UW-Manitowoc. - Thursday, June 28: Applications are due for Leadership Fox Cities for the 2012-2013 leadership year. The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce & Industry initiated the program in 1991 to cultivate and train an ongoing pool of candidates who could serve the community. Leadership Fox Cities attracts both long-time residents who want a deeper connection to their community and newcomers who want to become familiar with the history, needs and resources of their new hometown. The program covers local history, biographies of past and current leaders and philanthropists, a wide-ranging sampling of resources, attractions and leaders here. During the year, participants will work in small groups to define, plan and carry out a community service project. They will learn how to become involved in the issues and organizations. - Monday, August 6: The 20th Annual Women’s Golf & Luncheon Benefit will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Butte des Morts Country Club. The day’s events include a silent auction, raffles, golf and indoor games such as Scrabble, Bunco and Dominoes. Participants have the chance to win a trip for four to Disney World in Orlando. The event hopes to raise $100,000 for a new Mother Baby Family room in the renovated St. Elizabeth Hospital Women & Families Unit. Last year, the event raised almost $98,000 for a suite in the St. Elizabeth Hospital Cancer Center. Since its inception in 1993, the Golf & Luncheon Benefit has raised more than $980,000.
