The Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc and Lakeshore Technical College will present Business Building Blocks, a free one-hour information session on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The event covers qualities needed to become a successful entrepreneur, the feasibility of a business idea, and first steps to take and learn about local resources that can help. Wednesday, Sept. 4: The H.S. Group will host the Excellence in Talent Management Roundtable event “Career Management – Whose Responsibility Is It?” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the H.S. Monday, Sept. 9: The Venture Center at Fox Valley Technical College is launching its 15-week E-seed entrepreneur training program. Sessions will be held at FVTC’s D.J. Bordini Center at 5 Systems Drive on Mondays through Dec. 9. Participants can choose an afternoon session from 1 to 4 p.m. or an evening class from 6 to 9 p.m. The program will be offered at FVTC’s Waupaca Regional Center, 1979 Godfrey Dr., on Wednesdays from Sept. 11 to Dec. 4, and at the Oshkosh Riverside campus, 150 N. Tuesday, Sept. 10: The Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a speed networking event from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Chamber office, 101 E. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna. Each face-to-face speed networking session lasts three or four minutes, and at the end of the session, you will have 20 or 25 new or potential business contacts. Wednesday, Sept. 11: The Women in Management-Fox Cities will host a meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fox Banquets Rivertyme Catering in Appleton. Saturday, Sept. 14: The second annual Catalpa Health Race for a Reason presented by J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc. will be held at Fox Cities Stadium. Gates open at 9:30 a.m., with kart races beginning at 10 a.m. The public is invited to watch the kart races, which will feature drivers and pit crew members from the Fox Valley. Admission is a $5 parking fee. Proceeds from the race directly benefit Catalpa Health, a Fox Valley mental health clinic for children and teens. Tuesday, Sept. 17: The Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc County will be hosting Entrepreneurial Boot Camp starting Sept. 17 and continuing Sept. 18, 19, and 23 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the EDC Manitowoc Office. The Boot Camp will provide the framework for developing workable business plans. The cost is $110 for up to two participants with the same plan and $135 for three participants with the same plan. Thursday, Sept. 19: Fox Valley Technical College’s Global Education and Services department and the Northeast Wisconsin International Business Network are holding the Best Practices in International Trade forum from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at FVTC’s D.J. Bordini Center, 5 Systems Drive in Appleton. Monday, Oct. 7: The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual dinner at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay starting with networking at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner and awards ceremony.
