Pro golfers from the LPGA took their opening shots Thursday during the inaugural Thornberry Creek Classic. This is the LPGA’s first visit to the greater Green Bay area and its first stop in Wisconsin since the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.

Organizers have spent the last three years preparing for the event, and hope to make the Northeast Wisconsin course a regular stop for the LPGA. The week-long event is expected to attract about 60,000 spectators, with the largest crowds coming out for the tournament’s final rounds Saturday and Sunday.
