With less than one year in existence, the NEW IT Alliance has accomplished a lot, and with its upcoming, first-ever IT career fair, it will check off another milestone.
More than 50 companies and educational institutions will participate in the region-wide career fair. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Fox Valley Technical College’s D.J. Bordini Center in Appleton.
Kim Iversen, director of the NEW IT Alliance, says the event is designed for high school and college students as well as adults interested in exploring changing careers. Around 275 high school students from around the area are scheduled to attend.
This will be no static job fair, Iversen says. The day will include Tech Marketplace, which will demonstrate technologies such as robotics, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
In the Talent Café, participants can chat with IT professionals about careers, including app development, cybersecurity, project management, and network analysis. Companies such as KI and IBM will be on hand, and representatives from UW-Oshkosh and FVTC will be there to talk to attendees about education options.
“I think this is going to be a huge benefit to the region,” Iversen says. “It’s a job fair-plus.”
