De Pere-based custom metal fabricator Robinson Metal Inc. will expand into Manitowoc at the site of a former Manitowoc Crane Group production facility.

As early as May 1, the company will begin production of custom enclosures at the new facility at 3401 S. 30th St., Building B, in Manitowoc. Robinson anticipates hiring approximately 30 new employees for the Manitowoc facility and will be adding to its workforce in De Pere to keep up with increasing customer demand in all divisions.

“As our custom enclosures business increases, we are quickly outgrowing our facility in De Pere,” Sam Thomas, operations manager for Robinson Metal Inc., said in a press release. “We were fortunate to find a turnkey solution with the building and the skilled workforce in Manitowoc.”

Robinson Metal, Inc. specializes in weather protective drop-overs to turnkey sound attenuated enclosures and handles all facets of the products in-house to control quality, lead time and manufacturing costs.

“The size of our custom enclosures requires the specific crane configurations already in place at the Manitowoc facility, and it has the production floor space we need to move the various pieces throughout the process,” Thomas said.
