Ahlstrom‐Munksjö has completed its purchase of Expera Specialty Solutions, LLC in a deal worth $615 million.
The acquisition expands Ahlstrom‐Munksjö’s presence in North America and further strengthen its offering of advanced custom‐made fiber‐based materials. Expera is among the leading specialty paper producers in North America with paper mills located in Kaukauna, De Pere, Rhinelander and Mosinee.
Headquartered in Finland, Ahlstrom‐Munksjö previously said the purchase would not affect employment levels at the Expera sites.
The acquisition “will further strengthen our position in fiber‐based materials and enable us to offer more value to our customers, particularly in North America, but also around the world,” Hans Sohlström, president and CEO of Ahlstrom‐Munksjö, said in a statement. “We have complementary capabilities and can create further value through joint product development and sharing of best practices.”
Russ Wanke, the former president and CEO of Expera, has been named executive vice president of North America
Specialty Solutions and a member of Ahlstrom‐Munksjö’s executive management team.
The acquisition was announced in July.
