Schneider Chief Information Officer Shaleen Devgun received Forbes magazine’s 2018 CIO Innovation Award.
The award recognizes technology executives who make a substantial impact on their company’s revenue growth through innovation and leadership in information technology. Devgun is the sole winner in the sixth class of the award.
“At Schneider, we have always believed in being a pragmatic early adopter of technology to benefit customers and drivers,” Devgun said. “Our ability to use technology to present timely information helps stakeholders make the important decisions that drive their businesses.”
Devgun and his team are a driving force behind several recent innovative technological enhancements at Schneider, including the development and implementation of telematics on company assets, internet of things devices and app development.
The new platform uses geo-location and a rules engine to enforce compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as company policies. Drivers in more than 10,700 Schneider trucks use the system to manage work assignments, report activities and track time. Constantly driven by data gathered by GPS and entered by the user, the reengineered platform streamlines driver actions and maximizes efficiency.
