Give BIG raises nearly $1.4M in 24 hours

Give BIG Green Bay — a 24-hour online crowdfunding event — raised just under $1.4 million for 40 local nonprofit organizations during the event’s second year.

More than 3,400 people participated in the event, which is run by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. Donors visited had from noon on Feb. 20 to noon Feb. 21 to make their gifts.

The three nonprofits receiving the largest donations were: Greater Green Bay YMCA, $143,997; Howe Community Resource Center, $65,000; and St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter, the Micah Center and Wellspring, $58,000. A full list of all the nonprofits and the amount raised can be found here.

The $1.4 million also includes more than $300,000 in matches from Green Bay Packers Give Back Foundation, Bellin Health, J. J. Keller Foundation and private donors Janet and Charlie Lieb.

Last year, Give BIG Green Bay raised just more than $800,000.
