Shopko will lay off more than 1,700 employees by June 16 as the Ashwaubenon-based company finishes closing its stores, according to documents filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Thursday’s announcement follows one made on Feb. 18 that the retailer would lay off 1,000 employees at its stores and 140 employees at its headquarters.
Meanwhile, Spectrum America subsidiaries — the operator of its distribution center — announced it plans to lay off 225 workers in May. Shopko was Spectrum America’s only customer.
In the mass layoff notice, the DWD said the Bay Area Workforce Development Board will offer rapid response services to the companies’ workers.
