Earlier this week, the Manitowoc Common Council unanimously approved a pay-as-you-go $900,000 tax incremental financing district agreement with Alliance. The company, a world leader in manufacturing commercial laundry equipment, submitted a plan for a $30 million improvement on the former Manitowoc Cranes site. The 50-acre site has been vacant since Manitowoc Cranes moved its crawler cranes operations to Pennsylvania in 2016.
Last week, the city announced a manufacturer submitted a plan to buy the Manitowoc Cranes site and hire 250 workers, but that the company would not be named officially until its due diligence period was complete.
An Alliance spokesman confirmed the company is looking to move to Manitowoc but declined to name the site due to extended due diligence it is doing with the site’s former owners. The move will not affect any jobs at the Ripon manufacturing facility.
