Oshkosh Area United Way is asking businesses to participate in its new monthly collection drives by hosting their own drives to bring much-needed supplies to local organizations.
Items collected will go directly to local nonprofits, senior centers, schools, adult care facilities and more.
“With 46 percent of our community not having basic needs, we have an opportunity to make a difference,” said Mary Ann L. Dilling, president and CEO of Oshkosh Area United Way.
With the monthly collection drives, Oshkosh Area United Way is encouraging businesses to come together, whether its company-wide or just a small department, to host, collect and donate items according to the monthly calendar. Businesses are encouraged to pick a month and topic they are most passionate about and advertise the collection drive through flyers and social connections within their company.
Once collected at a business, the items can be brought to the United Way before the last Thursday of the month.
Here’s a look at what items are being collected each month:
July: school supplies
August: personal hygiene
September: health and beauty
October: cold weather gear
November: food drive
December: baby supplies
January: food drive
February: dental hygiene drive
March: household items
