The Wisconsin Internet of Things (WIoT) Council — a newly formed organization based in Sheboygan — is planning its first-ever event to announce its vision to state manufacturers.

“Challenges and Opportunities: Internet of Things in Wisconsin and the Midwest” will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 17 at the Blue Harbor Conference Center in Sheboygan.

WIoT is a membership-driven organization that promotes Wisconsin and Midwest as the epicenter of IoT and looks to drive technological advancement in the region by providing the WIoT and its members with a forum and environment conducive for networking, relationship building, talent attraction and mutual exchange of information relative to the internet of things.

Don DeLoach, CEO and founder of Rocket Wagon Venture Studios, will be the event’s keynote speaker. Panelists include Julia Kanouse, CEO of Illinois Technology Association and the founder of the Midwest IoT Council; Shane Moll, president of Power Tools at Milwaukee Tool; Steve DeCabooter, director of connected platforms at Gilson Inc.; and Edward Ward, Smart Home Program manager at Kohler Co.

The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corp. is incubating the Wisconsin IOT Council, and it recently hired Ronald Rumack as its first employee.
