Appleton was named to the No. 89 spot on Money magazine’s list of Best Places to Live 2019. It was the only Northeast Wisconsin city to crack the list, with Madison named No. 8 and Waukesha No. 73.

The magazine listed key statistics for the city: a population of 76,760, median income of $60,869, median home price of $155,921, projected job growth of 4 percent and an average commute of 19 minutes. As for weather, it says the city sees 187 clear days per year. The magazine’s website highlights a photo of Mile of Music in its profile of Appleton.

Clarksville, Tenn., took this year’s top spot. In its writeup of the city, the magazine highlighted Clarksville as a place where “natural beauty coexists with a growing economy, unique small businesses are thriving, a cheap meal out rarely costs more than $12, and there’s always a trivia night, community event or concert on the calendar.”
