Voting is now open for the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest.
The annual contest, presented by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and Johnson Financial Group, highlights the state’s manufacturing industry, leading to the handing out of the title of the coolest thing made in Wisconsin.
More than 150 products from across the state — including many from the New North — were nominated. New North companies with nominations include Alliance Laundry Systems, Arcways Inc., Basler Turbo Conversions, Bemis Mfg. Co., Carron Net Co., Cedar Crest Ice Cream, CMD Corp., Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, Fork Farms, GLK Foods LLC, Gulfstream, KI, Lakeside Foods, Luvata Appleton LLC, Marquis Yachts, Mercury Marine, Miller Electric, N.E.W. Plastics Corp., Nelson and Pade Inc., Paper Converting Machine Co., Parallel 44 Vineyard and Winery, Plymouth Foam, Ponderosa Dairy Products LLC, Roving Blue, Smurawa’s Country Bakery, Sonex Aircraft and Waupaca Elevator.
A popular vote going through Sept. 15 will determine the top 16 products that will then be placed in a bracket-style tournament called Manufacturing Madness. Products will then compete against one another in head-to-head matchups, with the items with the highest number of votes moving on to the next round.
This year marks the fourth year of the competition. Harley-Davidson’s motorcycles won the inaugural event, with Oshkosh Corp. winning in 2017 for its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle and Mike’s Bakery Shoppe in De Pere winning in 2018 for its kringle.
