ADI honors downtown businesses

Appleton Downtown Inc. recently honored local businesses and community members for their commitment to develop, grow and build the city’s downtown.

The winners are:

The Walter Kalata Landmark Award:  Dr. Jekyll’s Bar.

Volunteer of the Year: Steve Demcak and Kathy Dreyer for their efforts through the years, including helping to launch the Heid Music Summer Concert Series 14 years ago.

Dreamers and Doers Award: Jones Park and the Fox Cities Exhibition Center. The projects worked hand in hand to create a dynamic destination in the heart of downtown.

Downtown Renovation Award: Mondo! Wine Bar & Retail.

President’s Award: BConnected, LLC. By working with numerous downtown businesses, this company has direct impact on sharing news about activities, live music, and arts and culture to the community.

Rising Star Award: Casting On. The business provides a place for people to learn about and practice fiber arts.

The Bernie Pearlman Downtown Award: Chad Brady, a local artist, created many murals in the downtown that invoke conversation, honor history, spark emotion and fill the public view with beauty.

Downtown Business of the Year: Shear Chaos Hair Parlour.
