The challenges and trends facing manufacturers will be the focus of a Manufacturing Day Celebration Friday at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

The event is part of the State of Wisconsin Manufacturing Tour put together by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and M3 Insurance. In addition to Green Bay, other events will be held in West Allis, Wausau and Madison during the month of October, which is recognized as Manufacturing Month.

At Friday’s event, which runs from 8 to 10 a.m., a panel of area manufacturers will share perspectives on the industry and officials from WMC and M3 will also share presentations. A tour of NWTC’s manufacturing facilities is also included.

Panel members include Scott Kettler, chief operating officer at Pioneer Metal; Kelley Krouth, president of Ace Manufacturing Industries; and Sarah Zimmerman, Mercury Marine’s director of global lean Six Sigma deployment.

Manufacturing employs more than 470,000 state residents and is Wisconsin’s No. 1 industry, creating nearly $60 billion in economic output.
