Fox Cities Chamber to host first-ever educator awards

The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce announced plans for its inaugural Excellence in Education Shining Star Awards event. Nominations are open for the program, which will recognize the outstanding achievements of educators in the Fox Cities region.

A skilled workforce of tomorrow relies on high-quality education today, and this event will acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of educators in Fox Cities schools and higher education institutions.

“We are so excited to be shining light on the dedicated educators in our region,” said Amy Andersen, director of Talent and K-16 Relations with the Fox Cities Chamber. “These educators are inspiring and preparing the next generation of leaders to find their unique path to all of the opportunities available in the Fox Cities region, both in higher education and in the workforce.”

The chamber is accepting nominations through Jan. 15 at People may nominate an educator for one category, one time, but they may nominate multiple educators.

Full-time K-16 educators in the Fox Cities region (Outagamie, Calumet and northern Winnebago counties) are eligible. Award recipients will each receive a $500 unrestricted cash award (except Educator of the Year, who will receive a $1,000 unrestricted cash award). One award winner will be named in each of the following categories:

  • Excellence in Early Childhood Education
  • Excellence in K-12 Education
  • Inclusive Excellence in Education
  • Excellence in Special Education
  • Excellence in Student Services
  • Excellence in Higher Education
  • Excellence in Career and Technical Education
  • Educator of the Year

Award recipients, except Educator of the Year, will be announced prior to the event. Three final nominees for Educator of the Year will be announced at that time. Award recipients will be recognized and celebrated at the Excellence in Education Awards presentation on Thursday, March 5 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley in downtown Appleton.

Registration is open for the event at Individual tickets are $40 for educators and Fox Cities Chamber members. General admission is $50 per ticket.
