The Kohler Co. notified state officials Friday that it may eliminate 90 jobs as the company moves the assembly of its engines out of Sheboygan County.
The company said it is trying to place low-seniority workers in other jobs at its Kohler manufacturing complex, but a slowdown in housing and other economic sectors means there are fewer open positions. Kohler’s bathroom and kitchen fixtures manufacturing division is closely aligned to the housing market.
Earlier this year, Kohler announced plans to move its engine production from the area to Hattiesburg, Miss., eliminating 325 jobs. Most of those employees were able to find other jobs within the company.
