The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin awarded H.J. Martin and Son two 2013 Build Wisconsin Awards in the Specialty Contractor-Exterior Finishes category for its work on the Wisconsin Energy Institute in Madison and the Aurora Cancer Center in Grafton (see this month’s cover story). This is the eighth consecutive year H.J. Martin and Son was honored with AGC awards.

Acuity will begin constructing a $130 million, 240,000-square foot addition to its corporate headquarters in Sheboygan this month. The project will increase the size of its campus by more than 50 percent. The building will accommodate 4,000 employees and will feature new training facilities, upgraded infrastructure and security, and a 2,000-person theater-in-the-round for companywide meetings. The project is expected to last three years. Fortune magazine also named Acuity the best workplace in America among mid-sized employers. This marks Acuity’s fourth consecutive year as the top-ranked employer and the fifth time the company has claimed the No. 1 spot.

Menasha Packaging won 13 Design of the Times Awards at the 2013 Shopper Marketing Expo in Chicago. The company received three gold, two silver and eight bronze awards in four of eight retail channels including drug stores, mass merchandisers, specialty stores and supermarket/grocery stores. The gold winners include Kraft S’Mores Half Pallet Display for Kraft Foods, Cepacol Sensations Launch PDQ Display for Reckitt Benckiser and Sharp 80 Display for Sharp Electronics.

RLO Sign Inc. won two first-place design awards from the Wisconsin Sign Association, one in Monument Exterior Identification for the Nemak monument sign in Sheboygan and another in Non-Illuminated Exterior Identification for the Plymouth Brewing Company sign in Plymouth.

Paper Transport, Inc. was the recipient of the 2013 Excellence in Business Award by Advance. PTI revenues rose 63.5 percent and added more than 80 employees in Northeast Wisconsin since 2011.

EnVision Performance Solutions LLC moved to 400 N. Richmond St. in Appleton.

Brown County Recycling launched new social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to share green tips. The Brown County Recycling facility is located at 2561 South Broadway in the Village of Ashwaubenon.

A.C.E. Building Service completed renovations of the Manitowoc Citizen Park restrooms as part of a building project to upgrade current building and energy codes and to meet federal and state accessibility guidelines. The Friends of Citizen Park Recreation Center selected A.C.E. for the project.

Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group Inc. agent Norm Trisler opened a new marketing company at 109 E. Badger St. in Waupaca called The Stormin’ Norman Group.

Green Bay’s Legato Healthcare Marketing added Reedsburg Area Medical Center and Virtual Neurology to its client roster.

Lawrence University was awarded a $125,000 grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation to support the college’s student internship program. The grant, part of Great Lakes’ 2013-14 Career Ready Internship Initiative, provides funding to create new, paid internships for Lawrence juniors and seniors. It also converts unpaid internships into paid ones.

The Fox Cities Regional Partnership launched a new website, www.FoxCitiesRegionalPartnership.com.

The Stephenson National Bank & Trust won the State Bankers Promoting Financial Literacy award through the Wisconsin Bankers Association for its commitment to financial education efforts in the surrounding communities. SNBT bankers received the award for teaching more than 700 individuals in 2013.

Arketype Entertainment’s “Champion: The Legacy of Jackie Nitschke” documentary trailer is available online at www.Jackie-Nitschke-the-Documentary.com. The documentary is a collaborative effort between the Jackie Nitschke Center and Arketype, Green Bay. The film will debut in 2014.

More than $255,000 was raised to support the vital healthcare services for Agnesian HealthCare’s Hospice Hope and Community Cancer Care at the 2013 Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s charity open.

The Fond du Lac Association of Commerce announced the opening of the following businesses: Westbrook Rental & Repair at 6714 State Road 23; Rundle Spence at 835 S. Hickory St.; Schmid Custom Cleaning LLC at 207 N. Main St. Home Builders Association at 490 W. Rolling Meadows Drive; Lakeside Wealth Management at 1080 S. The Associated General Contractors named Faith Technologies a 2013 Build Wisconsin Award winner for the Neenah Affinity Clinic in the specialty contractor – electrical category. Affinity Medical Group’s new 32,000-square-foot replacement facility was built to accommodate both a medical clinic and urgent care services.

ThedaCare is building improved advance care planning systems through participation in Honoring Choices Wisconsin. Patients will be offered advance care planning information at select sites in March 2014 to help them understand health care treatment options, appoint a health care agent, clarify goals, weigh options about the kind of care and treatment needed and communicate those wishes to family, friends and caregivers. ThedaCare At Home, a provider of home care services in 10 Northeast Wisconsin counties, received a 2013 Home Medical Equipment Excellence Award. The winners are based on an analysis of sales growth, staffing levels, community involvement, quality control measures and accreditations within the company.

The Manitowoc Company will attend the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 event in Las Vegas on March 4.

The Green Bay YMCA unveiled a new website, GreenBayYMCA.org, to meet the needs of mobile devices that access the site. Infinity Technology designed the site to automatically scale-to-fit any screen size for a more user-friendly experience and easier access to programs and details.

Spirax Sarco partnered with J.M. Electrical Company Inc. as a factory authorized service supplier for Spirax. J.M. Electrical will assist in servicing and commissioning Spirax’s commercial and industrial accounts throughout New England.

Pawn America opened a 19,200-square-foot store at 2590 Holmgren Way in Ashwaubenon. The store employs 20 people.

First Business Financial Services Inc. was named to the Sandler O’Neill + Partners Sm-All Stars List for 2013. Sandler O’Neill + Partners evaluates all publicly traded banks and thrifts with a market cap of $25 million to $2.5 billion. First Business Financial Services was one of 31 institutions out of 450 evaluated for “delivering bottom line results.”

Kewaunee Power Station presented a $4,500 check to the Chamber of Manitowoc County’s Jr. Leadership Manitowoc County program on behalf of the Dominion Foundation. The Jr. Leadership Manitowoc County is a program that develops and prepares area high school juniors for leadership roles in their schools and communities.

American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) awarded St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac a cardiac rehab program certification.

A.C.E. Building Service has completed a re-roof project for Holiday House of Manitowoc County Inc., where a Butler MR-24 metal roof system was installed for weather protection.

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP was named one of the 2013 Best Accounting Firms to Work for by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group. The “Top 100 Firms” list recognizes the best accounting industry businesses. Baker Tilly, the largest national firm on the 2013 list, has a branch in Appleton.
