It’s safe to say a lot has changed in the 35 years ARMS Inc., a De Pere-based information management company, has been in business.

What started with one customer, some rented space and a focus on managing hard-copy records is now a thriving business that handles a variety of information management needs for clients across many industries.

Eric Haas, who completed the purchase of ARMS from his uncle in early 2008 and serves as the company’s president and CEO, says ARMS’ services fall under the information management umbrella.

The first focus area is tied closely to the company’s roots — hard-copy records storage and off-site records management for companies and corporations. It’s an area of the business that’s continued to grow, with Haas saying the company is quickly approaching 1 million boxes in its storage center.

But, in addition to records management, ARMS handles off-site media vaulting, document management (including converting paper records to digital) and information destruction. The company has a fleet of six mobile destruction trucks that service customers on a one-time or scheduled basis.

“All of those things are part of information management,” Haas says. “We’re equipped to handle everything from inception to destruction.”

Because business information looks quite different today than it did just a decade ago, Haas says ARMS has continued to evolve and expand services to give customers what they need. For example, information that used to be housed in handwritten spreadsheets is now accessible to clients in a cloud repository. As digital information continued to become the norm, ARMS added software tools and services like workflow management.

While keeping pace in an industry that’s always evolving is no easy task, Haas is excited by the challenge and the opportunity to continue to serve ARMS’ clients.

“As we go along, we do a better and better job of helping our clients understand everything we offer so that we can be a one-stop shop for them,” Haas says. “We believe that today we have more to offer any one client than any time in our existence, and we believe we can be an unbelievable value partner to them moving down the road.”
