All Tied Up is not just another florist. Or coffee shop. Or bakery. In fact, while researching ideas for his business, co-owner Aaron Phillipson could only find a couple of businesses in the country that took the leap to combine all three.
Located on the east side of Appleton, All Tied Up Floral Cafe is an all-in-one, full-service florist, coffee shop and bakery featuring unique cupcakes and baked goods made from scratch with fresh ingredients. It also offers breakfast options and soup, salad and wraps for lunch.
By combining two industries — floral and food — All Tied Up sets itself apart from anything else in the area, Phillipson says.
“Why not try to bring something here that’s unique and different?” he says.
After growing tired of commuting daily to Green Bay, Phillipson decided to open his own business in Appleton. He enjoyed the floral industry, but with its seasonal peaks and valleys, Phillipson wanted to add something that would keep it sustainable year-round.
First came the idea of adding a coffee shop and then a bakery when Phillipson decided to get his friend, Da’Neil Spencer, involved. A talented baker, Spencer was a stay-at-home mom looking for a new opportunity.
“I thought this would be a great way for her to be able to get back into it again,” Phillipson says. “It all just fell together.”
All Tied Up Floral Cafe opened in October 2017, with Phillipson running the floral side of things and Spencer in charge of the bakery.
When it comes to the floral creations, Phillipson customizes each order to fit the person and reason they’re ordering flowers.
“Getting to know the person and why they’re sending the flowers helps me be creative,” he says. “They want meaning behind it, so I’m going to make sure I can capture that for them.”
All Tied Up offers cupcakes on a rotating basis, with three to four new flavors offered every week highlighting ingredients and flavors in season. Classic flavors such as chocolate and vanilla are always in stock. Custom cupcake orders also are available.
