It’s time to get ready for another mile.

Mile of Music announced the first 50 acts that will appear at this year’s music festival in downtown Appleton, nicknamed Mile 4.

Scheduled to take place Aug. 4-7, the initial lineup presented by organizers includes performers from at least 24 states and four countries. By the time of the event, it’s anticipated there will be more than 200 musical acts performing more than 800 sets at 70 venues throughout the free, four-day festival.

“I’m just waiting for a puppet show,” Cory Chisel, a co-founder and musical curator of the event, joked during the initial announcement at the Outer Edge in downtown Appleton.

Of the first acts announced, 31 are new to Mile of Music. The event will also expand its music education sessions for 2016.

Mile of Music brought an estimated 50,000 visitors to Appleton during Mile 3, and organizers estimate its economic impact at roughly $2.5 million.
