Mavid Construction Services LLC of Green Bay received a 2012 Excellence in State Contract Award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, marking it as one of the state’s top minority business enterprise contractors. Mavid Construction, a Native American-owned construction firm, specializes in metal stud and drywall, commercial flooring, glass and glazing, and commercial doors and hardware.

Integrity Insurance of Appleton received two top technology awards from the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD). Integrity received the 2012 property and casualty AL3 download award and the 2012 ACORD user group information exchange commercial lines download award.

Heartland Business Systems in Little Chute received the inaugural Inc. Magazine’s Hire Power Award, created to recognize businesses that have generated the most jobs in the past three years. Heartland, which also has offices in Pewaukee and Lisle, Ill., has created more than 200 jobs since 2010.

National Crane customers now have a one-stop shop for boom truck and crane knowledge, expertise and customization: the all-new National Crane Modification Center. This new service from Manitowoc Crane changes the boom truck modification process, streamlining the process and producing faster turnaround times.

Alliance Construction & Design of De Pere recently completed construction on the first Old World European style building in downtown Little Chute. The building at the corner of Main and Vandenbroek streets will house Salon Indulgence, a full-service salon and spa.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay selected A.C.E. Building Service in Manitowoc to remodel its Campus Buzz Café. The refresh includes new cabinets, flooring and equipment to give the campus coffee shop an updated look.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is committing $6.8 million in 2013 to help build 113 Habitat for Humanity houses across the United States. Through a unique partnership, called Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, Thrivent Financial and its members have now committed more than $180 million and more than 3.5 million volunteer hours since 2005. Thrivent Financial remains the largest non-governmental supporter of Habitat for Humanity International.

The Door County Community Foundation recently launched GIVE Door County, its restructured discretionary grants program. Sustainability grants will provide critical operational support for charities that sustain the county’s quality of life while advancement grants will invest in collaborative efforts designed to lead to systemic change.

Skyline Technologies, a leading software developer and Microsoft partner, released six different Windows 8 apps to the Microsoft App Store. All of the apps are built specifically for Windows 8 and cover a variety of topics and appeal to many different audiences. The new apps include Beerology, which provides instant access to over 18,000 breweries and information on all things beer; Bugs!, a fast-paced game; Eagle Flight, a merit badge tracker for Boy Scouts; Game Manager-Soccer, a game management tool for soccer coaches; Riverview Gardens, a volunteer management tool for Appleton’s Riverview Gardens; and Zamora Time, a productivity tool that uses the Pomodoro Technique to help users better manage their time.

Miller Electric Manufacturing Co. in Appleton is partnering with the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Foundation Inc. to provide $40,000 in scholarships to students studying engineering and robotics at UW-Fox Valley through the Fox Valley Engineering Program.

Capital Credit Union in Kimberly is now associated with VandenBoom Verstegen Wealth Management, which is serviced by LPL Financial.

The American Heart Association recognized KI as a gold fit-friendly worksite. The Green Bay-headquartered furniture manufacturer was honored for making the health and wellness of its employees a priority. KI also received the Green Master designation, the highest tier in the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council’s Green Masters Program. As a Green Master, KI performed actions in each of the nine sustainability areas and has scored in the top 20 percent of all participating companies.

Ahern of Fond du Lac received a Build Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin for its plumbing work at the Clement J. Zablocki Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders Center of Milwaukee.

Dental Associates, which has five clinics in the New North, was featured in the inaugural edition of Inc. Magazine’s Hire Power Awards that recognizes private businesses that have generated significant new jobs during the past three years. Among its 10 Wisconsin clinics, Dental Associates created 50 jobs between 2008 and 2011.

Waupaca Foundry received a commendation from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Program. As part of the program, companies voluntarily make energy efficiency a business goal, establish energy management plans and commit to reduce the energy intensity of manufacturing operations by 25 percent over 10 years.

A.C.E. Building Service in Manitowoc completed an entrance renovation project for Pine River Dairy in rural Manitowoc. The project includes a new covered front porch, a pedestrian customer entrance ramp, paved parking and new stairs.

US Bank has made a $1,500 grant to CAP Services to support its Skills Enhancement Program, which helps working-poor families increase their earned income and have access to employer-paid benefits in Portage, Waupaca and Waushara counties.

Millennium Architects & Designers Ltd. of Green Bay received a LEED Gold Certification from the Green Building Certification Institute for a project it did for Western Technical College in Sparta. The project involved an addition and significant remodeling for campus, which is specially designed for first responder training.

ThedaCare Physicians-Menasha is now allowing patients to schedule appointments with their medical providers directly online through the MyThedaCare patient web portal. The Menasha clinic is the first to trial this pilot program.

Bemis Company Inc. of Neenah realigned its segment reporting in three segments: U.S. packaging, global packaging and pressure sensitive materials. The expansion from two to three reportable segments reflects the separation of the flexible packaging business segment into U.S. packaging and global packaging business segments.

McClone Insurance of Menasha acquired the Burkart-Heisdorf Insurance Agency in Sheboygan. Burkart-Heisdorf Insurance will continue to operate under its current name and locations.

Cellcom launched an Android version of its Varsity by Cellcom application. The app allows users to track Wisconsin high school sports teams and get scores, statistics, schedules, standings, roster information and news. The app is available free to Cellcom customers from the Google Play store.

Pioneer Credit Union has donated a parcel of land at 836 Victory Boulevard in Green Bay to Habitat for Humanity for the construction of a new home.

Huckman Mechanical Industries Inc. received a 2012 Build Wisconsin Award in the HVAC category for its work at the Northcentral Technical College-Wood Technology Center.

The American Club Resort in Kohler made the prestigious Travel + Leisure 500 World’s Best Hotel listing and received a five diamond status from AAA. The club’s Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run championship golf courses were also listed in Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses Ranking. Whistling Straits was ranked second in the listing of the top 100 public golf courses.

The Paper Discovery Center and the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Inc. received more than $40,000 during their year-end campaign, then received a matching donation of $40,000 from an anonymous donor. The funds will support the center’s education and children’s programs.

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District has adopted a new brand: NEW Water. The organization is currently designing a new solids handling facility, Resource Recovery and Electrical Energy (R2E2), which will recover energy to the tune of a 50 percent savings of energy costs per year.

The US Youth Soccer Region II Championship Committee has announced the 2015 Midwest Region Championships will be co-hosted by De Pere Select Soccer Club and the Appleton Soccer Club June 19-24, 2015. The tournament will bring 214 teams and roughly 14,000 visitors to the area.

Skyline Technologies of Green Bay received the Pedestal Partner Award for Invaluable Contribution to Tech Data’s TD Cloud Program from Tech Data, one of the world’s largest IT distributors. Wisconsin Lift Truck Corp. received the prestigious MVP (Most Valuable Partner) status for 2013 from the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association. This is the second year in a row that Wisconsin Lift Truck received the award.

The A.M. Best Company awarded an A+ Superior financial strength rating to Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. of Neenah.
