Laurie A. Carter was named the new president of Lawrence University. She will be the university’s first person of color to be president.
Carter will become the 17th president in the 174-year history of Lawrence on July 1, succeeding President Mark Burstein, who announced in September that he would step away after eight years leading the liberal arts university. Carter held key positions at the Juilliard School and Eastern Kentucky University before being named president of Shippensburg University in 2017.
Peter Gianopoulos was named president and CEO of United Way Fox Cities. He replaces Peter C. Kelly, who retired after a lengthy career with the organization.
Before joining the United Way, Gianopoulos worked for 25 years at Thrivent, serving in multiple leadership roles. In his new role, he will assume responsibility for driving the strategic direction behind United Way’s focus on improving the health, education and financial stability of Fox Cities residents.
Associated Banc-Corp has named Andrew J. Harmening as its next president and CEO. He replaces Phil Flynn, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Harmening also will serve on the firm’s board of directors and as president and CEO of Associated Bank, N.A. and president of Associated Trust, N.A.
Before coming to Associated, he most recently served as senior executive vice president, consumer and business banking of Huntington Bank. Prior to Huntington, he worked at Bank of the West and U.S. Bank.
Doug Albregts was named CEO of Marco following the retirement of Jeff Gau, who will become chairman of the board.
Steve Little was named president of Holy Family Memorial. CEO Brett Norrell will depart his role following Froedtert’s acquisition of HFM. A successor will be named at a later date.
Matthew Rowe was named president of Ruder Ware, succeeding Stewart Etten, who will continue as a full-time attorney and shareholder of the firm.
