“If your organization is striving to have a people-focused culture, as our business is, I highly recommend reading ‘Everybody Matters’ by Bob Chapman. Mr. Chapman has owned and purchased many different types of businesses all over the world (including Green Bay), some performing at a high level and some not. This read further solidified my personal objective as a leader that true fulfillment for employees really starts with an organization that truly cares about its people and embraces, as the book’s subtitle states, ‘The Extraordinary Power of Caring for Your People Like Family.’ If you and your organization prioritize your people as driving your success, I highly recommend ‘Everybody Matters.’”

“My favorite app these days is Bring! Summer is a stressful time for working parents. I feel like I can never keep my refrigerator, freezer or cupboard full. The Bring app allows me to make a list in my phone for the grocery store, Sam’s Club, Haen Meats, Lamers Dairy and more. Everyone in my family has access to the app and they can add to the different lists when we are running low on food, milk, deodorant or anything we need. This is a great way for my family to take responsibility for letting me know when we are running low on items, but also have a say in what I am making for meals. It has made my life a lot easier.”

Learning from others

“I love reading and use books and publications to stay sharp and up-to-speed with emerging trends and technology. Fast Company and Inc. Magazine are my top picks. They are packed with stories to aid forward-thinking and innovative decision-making. It’s important for me to step outside my industry to gain different perspectives. I recently read an article in Fast Company that resonated. It was about a school district, and the premise was about accountability — I believe it was holding parents accountable because they were having so many issues with kids getting to school. While this didn’t directly apply to insurance, I was inspired around the innovative way the district handled the problem.”

“I would like to recommend ‘Getting Curious,’ a podcast that both enlightens and uplifts listeners. Jonathan Van Ness of Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’ does a fantastic job bringing in notable subject matter experts on a variety of hot topics to shed light on issues we should be aware of and concerned with, in addition to making us laugh and empowered to advocate and take action on the issues we care about most. It serves many purposes. Considering the current global political climate, we need more media like this that equally delights, informs, inspires and draws awareness. Van Ness is one of the most unique personalities in media today. He delivers with insight, perspective, confidence, intelligence and fun — a must-listen.”
