Mark your calendars for Manufacturing First

Manufacturing First 2018 is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay.

The all-day event will feature keynote speaker Bob Chapman, chairman and CEO of Barry-Wehmiller. He launched Barry-Wehmiller University in 2008 to teach the principles of Truly Human Leadership, which have been instrumental in growing the organization’s people-centric culture.

Manufacturing First provides Wisconsin manufacturers with hands-on opportunities to grow their businesses and is designed for them to showcase industry advances, highlight successes, announce the latest developments and provide premier networking opportunities.

The day, which typically draws more than 1,000 attendees, will include 12 breakout sessions and an exhibitor floor featuring around 180 booths. It also features the presentation of the New North Inc. Workplace Excellence Awards.

Education, manufacturing award nominations open

Nominations are open for the NEW Manufacturing Alliance’s seventh annual Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards slated for Oct. 23 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. The event will spotlight best practices of manufacturing and education collaborations throughout Northeast Wisconsin as well as showcasing top talent from local manufacturing companies.

The event is one of many highlighting the state’s designation of October as Manufacturing Month. Last year, the event drew more than 400 attendees and raised more than $14,000 in college scholarships. The Alliance has awarded $230,000 in college scholarships over the past 10 years.

“The awards program is a celebration of the strong partnerships that have been formed between manufacturers
and education,” John Dennis, president of Gardan and chair of NEWMA, said in a release. “It showcases best practices and provides other schools and manufacturers a roadmap they can replicate.”

The nomination deadline is June 14, and the nomination form can be found at https://form.jotform.com/81117487784164. Questions regarding the event should be directed to Ann Franz at 920-498-5587 or [email protected]Φ
