Newcap, a nonprofit that served 10 counties in Northeast Wisconsin, has closed.
The organization had previously announced it would likely close prior to June 30, after allegations that it had misused taxpayer money.
Newcap had provied financial help to residents for more than 60 years for things like housing, home weatherization, and health care. The service area includes Brown, Florence, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto and Shawano counties.
The Wisconsin Department of Administration put Newcap under “enhanced financial monitoring” late last year.
