Robinson Metal celebrates 45 years

Robinson Metal, Inc., has come a long way in the past 45 years. A small business that originally focused on sheet metal fabrication applications has evolved to include six divisions spread over three locations in Northeastern Wisconsin, staffed by more than 400 dedicated employees and growing.
We have answered the demands of our diverse customer base by becoming a single-source solution for a wide range of turnkey projects. Our ability to perform testing and full skid assembly ensures complex projects are ready to go into service upon delivery.
Robinson’s six divisions feature traditional services provided through Robinson Fabrication & Machine and Robinson Heating & Cooling, along with specialty expertise and products offered through Robinson Pipe & Vessel, Robinson Custom Enclosures, Product Handling Concepts and Gas Trailer. We now have 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space in De Pere and Manitowoc, including 185,000 square feet in our custom-designed, climate-controlled main campus in De Pere.
Consistent investments in equipment, technology and facilities position Robinson as a premier service provider in the highly competitive metal manufacturing market. We were honored in 2019 to receive the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award in the large company category – our first nomination for this distinguished award.
Providing customers with a single point of contact within Robinson streamlines communication during the course of a project’s lifecycle. We have enhanced our business model to offer services beyond those of most metal manufacturers. Our ability to take projects from concept to completion means customers can count on us to manage all aspects of production and quality control. It is common for projects to touch multiple job centers within our facilities rather than being subcontracted to multiple shops. This is true regardless of the Robinson division named on the contract.

Employee longevity
Low employee turnover is a sure sign of a positive work environment, and the fact that almost half of our highly trained workforce has been with us for at least a decade – despite multiple opportunities in a wide-open job market – speaks volumes to their loyalty and work ethic.
We take our responsibilities seriously as an employer of choice for workers today and tomorrow. Robinson’s support of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s scholarship program, as well as our relationship with the Trades Career Academy apprenticeship program at West De Pere and De Pere high schools, contributed to our earning the NEW Manufacturing Alliance’s Educational Partnership Award in 2017.
We encourage and support employee involvement in the community through activities such as bell ringing for the Salvation Army, participating in onsite quarterly American Red Cross blood drives, and coaching numerous youth sports teams, many also sponsored by Robinson. As a company, we donate significantly to many local charities including Golden House, Ribbon of Hope, CP, Salvation Army and Ducks Unlimited, among others.
