Unemployment up in most Wisconsin counties in February, estimates show

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on Thursday released U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates of employment and unemployment statistics for metropolitan areas, major cities and counties in Wisconsin for February 2026.

The nonseasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows that preliminary February unemployment rates:

  • Increased in all 13 metropolitan areas over the month and the year;

  • Increased in all of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the month, decreased in the city of Superior over the year and increased in the remaining 34 cities over the year;

  • Decreased in Clark County over the month, increased in the remaining 71 counties over the month, decreased in three counties over the year, increased in 66 counties over the year and stayed the same in the three remaining counties.
