Conger Industries was founded in 1955 when Lloyd and Dorothy Conger moved from Sheboygan to Green Bay to start an aftermarket forklift parts distribution business. They named it Lift Parts Service Co. and operated out of a small garage, with Lloyd repairing forklifts and Dorothy handling the office work. Their children, Gary, Bruce, and Tana, helped with various tasks.
In 1970, Lloyd decided to take on the Toyota forklift line, despite his initial reluctance to work with foreign companies. This decision proved pivotal as Toyota became the leading forklift brand in the industry. To reflect their expanding business, they renamed the company Conger Industries in 1965 and moved to a new location on S. Ashland Ave. in 1975. In 1984, Lloyd retired unexpectedly and his sons Gary and Bruce took over, with Gary buying out Bruce in 1996.
A new chapter began when Gary’s daughter, Anika, joined the company in 1997 as a receptionist. Through hard work and dedication, she worked her way into her current role as President. In 2012, one of her first major accomplishments was leading the company through a building expansion that doubled the size of the Green Bay location. This expansion was necessary to fully support the business’s growth through the recession and into the future.
Today, Conger Industries is a third-generation family business with locations in Wausau, Neenah, and Richfield, employing over 100 associates. With a focus on quality products, excellent customer service, and strong partnerships, Conger continues helping businesses move material at peak efficiency with the right equipment and solutions. Some of these material handling solutions include forklifts, aerial lifts, utility vehicles, industrial floor sweeper scrubbers, and additional services like equipment repairs, racking, rentals, safety training, and warehousing products.
