Marvin Schumacher founded Services Plus in Green Bay in 1984 after he retired from a successful career as the president and founding member of Warehouse Specialists, Inc. Early on in his retirement he planned to golf and fish but soon realized, “Golf is dumb and I can buy fish.” He came out of retirement to start Services Plus.
Marvin was almost immediately joined at Services Plus by his son Mike. Marvin was an entrepreneur to the core, and his children — especially his two eldest sons, Mike and Tom — were often involved in his businesses. In the mid-1990s when Services Plus was no longer risky enough (too stable) for Marvin, he chose to get out, and Mike and Tom bought Marvin’s shares in Services Plus.
Mike and Tom grew Services Plus over their 20 years of ownership, focusing on the packaging business, especially multi-packs of consumer tissue products. They added warehousing and distribution services in the 1990s and 2000s, requiring more than 1 million square feet of space for their operation, and added the first contract manufacturing lines in the 2010s. Mike and Tom sold their shares to Tad Campana between 2018 and 2020.
Today, Services Plus is purely a contract manufacturer — we don’t have our own brand — and we focus all our energy on our customers’ brands. Our customers’ success is our success. We specialize in manufacturing consumer tissue and medical paper products. We also continue to package consumer tissue and single-use consumer products. Our customers are among the largest consumer products goods companies and distributors in the world. Services Plus continues to invest in new paper converting lines and has seen dramatic growth over the past few years.
Services Plus remains rooted in Marvin’s entrepreneurial spirit, and we continue to do whatever we can to please our customers.
