Women of Influence in the New North Region celebrates 5 years

Five-year anniversaries are an especially significant milestone in 2025: They mean an initiative launched at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic has endured. And Insight Publications’ Women of Influence in the New North Region, which was first held virtually and is now an inspiring annual luncheon that many mark on their calendars as a “can’t-miss,” has endured because of its powerful mission: to celebrate the women leaders, changemakers, influencers and achievers who shape and strengthen our state’s 18-county New North region. In its first four years, the Women of Influence in the New North Region program has recognized 32 diverse women for their influence, and Insight is poised to add eight more individuals to the list on July 29.

While the annual event is an opportunity for members of the community to hear heartfelt speeches from the honorees, often requiring tissues to be placed within reach, a recent partnership with Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes has taken the impact of those speeches to another level.

Kate Corey, the organization’s chief development officer, shared an anecdote from the 2022 Women of Influence event that was attended by Girl Scouts members. “On the ride home, they were talking about how awesome it was [and that] it was ‘cool to see women like that.’” When asked what “like that” meant, the staff members shared, came the reply:

“On top!”

Despite the leadership strides women have made in recent decades, this exchange certainly served as a reminder that showing women on top is still powerful — and still important. Insight Publications, our sponsors and supporters are proud to continue the tradition of shining this light on the women who are at the top of their games in Northeast Wisconsin.
