Heavy industrial union contractor and fabricator AZCO INC. was launched in 1949 by four individuals “who saw a need for quality mechanical contractors in central Wisconsin,” says Earle Cianchette, AZCO president and CEO. “Today, we serve diverse markets and geographies,” he says, “supporting industries ranging from energy, food and consumer products, to pulp and paper.”
AZCO is also one of the largest solar contractors in the country, completing sustainable projects such as solar and battery storage, Cianchette says: “We understand the value of those services and strive to bring them to communities across the country.”

The 100% employee-owned, safety-focused company is working with technology partners on innovation, has enhanced data analytics and security, and has built on sustainability initiatives like carbon footprint reporting, Cianchette says.
While AZCO has achieved tremendous growth since 2020 — tripling its workforce in 2023 — keeping that workforce growing has been a challenge. “It can be difficult to attract qualified employees to work in remote areas where construction often occurs,” Cianchette says, noting that the company has taken an aggressive approach to recruiting and benefits, including developing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Enhancements to data analytics and security, sustainability initiatives like carbon footprint reporting, and strengthening ties with technology partners are other innovative processes that are part of our plan to build for the future.
