Fork Farms has grown an average of 133% each year since its inception in 2016. CEO Alex Tyink says the company’s focus on bringing all people access to fresh food has attracted like-minded early adopters “that help us propel our mission into new communities in the most beneficial way possible.”

“[Fork Farms] made the strategic decision to focus and scale into one key niche vertical, which is the K-12 educational sector,” says Tyink. That decision meant more than 800 new, recurring customers in that sector.

Its flagship product, the Flex Farm, grows more than 300 pounds of fresh food annually in nine square feet of space for less than $1 per pound. “It allows anyone to become a farmer and make a substantial impact on their local food system,” Tyink says.

Fork Farms has almost doubled its staff in the past two years, and it recently secured a partnership with Rockwell Automation to build a 7,500-square-foot farm that will “showcase Rockwell Automation and Fork Farms technologies while providing fresh food to those who need it most in the Milwaukee community,” Tyink says. “It will also provide job skill training opportunities to Milwaukee youth.”
