Fork Farms’ mission of building a world “where fresh food is within reach for everyone, everywhere” resonates with its client base, evidenced by more than double revenue growth each year since launching in 2016. The company has hired 20 new employees in the past two years.

While Fork Farms has successfully brought its energy- and resource-efficient hydroponic food growth technology and programs to several markets, it has strategically focused on food access in the K-12 educational sector, adding more than 800 new customers in the last three years, says CEO Alex Tyink.

Despite the challenges of inflation and a difficult fundraising environment, the company has “a bootstrap mentality” that leads to optimized efficiencies and more selectivity with developmental opportunities, Tyink says.

Fork Farms recently announced a partnership with Makers Row to create a 5,000-square-foot farm at the corner of West National Avenue and 66th Street in Milwaukee. The project will be “a new kind of urban farm — one that will grow thousands of pounds of fresh, local produce each month for the community,” Tyink says. In 2023, the company partnered with Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee to build a 7,500-square-foot indoor vertical farm.
