Capital Credit Union has grown membership and staff, expanded lending, expanded its physical footprint and sustained strong earnings, launching it into the top 10 for Fastest Growing Companies in 2025. A recent charter expansion into Dodge and Dane counties and the opening of a new branch in Bellevue have helped the credit union build on its long-held mission to strengthen communities.
“Our expansion strategy demonstrates that growth is never just about numbers,” says President & CEO Laurie Butz. “It is about creating meaningful connections and empowering financial wellbeing across Wisconsin.”
Innovation has also been a key driver of Capital’s growth, most notably the launch of its new digital banking platform. But equally important, Butz says, has been Capital’s investment in communities. Its partnership with Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin has helped more than 1,200 Goodwill employees gain access to financial products and services, and programs like Fresh Start Checking and First-Time Auto Buyer help individuals overcome barriers.
As Capital has grown its reach and impact, so has it grown its staff. The credit union has added 37 roles in the past two years, mostly in its contact center and on its fraud surveillance and cybersecurity teams.
The recipient of the 2025 New North Workplace Excellence Award, Capital Credit Union has also been recognized with a Governor’s Financial Literacy Award, with the UW-Green Bay Weyenberg Prize for Business Excellence and as a Platinum Level Employee Friendly Workplace through the Fox Cities Chamber.
