People may be surprised to learn that Meghan Walsh wasn’t a strong undergrad student when she earned her degree in international relations from UW-Milwaukee. “Working in higher education, people often assume you were on the dean’s list and very involved as a student,” she says. “I was not. My passion for higher education came later.”
She returned to school for an MBA while she was working at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She soon discovered higher education itself was her passion, and she began working with Alverno College, going on to earn a doctor of education degree from Baylor University.
In the coming decade, Walsh is committed to helping college students discern their own futures. “I want to see an increase in the college completion rates of first-generation and low-income students,” she says.
In her volunteer work, Walsh is involved in an organization that works to end the generational cycle of addiction, and has served on the boards of youth arts organizations.
