Michaella Heitzler “does hard things,” says her husband and nominator Matthew. That might include doing intense procedures on children while singing a Disney song, acting as a role model as a female business owner or earning certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Additionally, Heitzler “built our practice on the foundation of balancing our business, marriage, kids and adventures,” says Matthew, who is the practice’s office manager. “She also preserves that balance for our team members.”
Heitzler says her biggest break was her “husband agreeing to leave Chicago and his (finance and real estate) profession to open a business with me. We started with two patients a day. We now have over 100 new patients a month and have added two more doctors,” she says.
The Heitzers have three kids — Ahava, Artemis and Fitz — and a Flemish giant bunny named Gus Gus. Heitzler graduated college early so she could solo backpack through 33 countries in Europe and the Middle East.
