Robert Koehler entered architecture “at a critical transition from work that largely consisted of 2D digital drafting to that of 3D digital building information modeling,” he says. Knowing that, Koehler completed his master of architecture degree from UW-Milwaukee in 2009 “utilizing Revit, completing my first project using what has become the most popular 3D building information modeling software in the industry.”
“Today, I continue this effort to seek out new and innovative tools and solutions,” he says, “serving as part of a team exploring AI tools and services and potential ways to leverage them within my firm.”
People might not know that Koehler is one of the models for the “Ring Dance” statue by artist Dallas Anderson in Appleton’s City Park. Additionally, for 26 years, Koehler has been a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He credits the Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program “for a lot of my successes and who I am today.”
Koehler counts among his mentors his father, Rodney, and older brother, Christopher, who died in a single-engine plane crash along with Koehler’s uncle in 2001 when Koehler was just 15. “The two of them imparted on me the need to have fun, a drive to achieve, to seek adventure, and a desire to learn and grow.”
