Youth Apprenticeship School-Based Coach at Pulaski High School / Age 24

For Adam Strassburg, building strong rapport with every student he supports has been the most rewarding part of his career so far.
“I wish more people understood that just by giving one student a chance we can make a huge impact on their life and give them a sense of purpose,” says the UW-River Falls graduate who wants to ensure “every single student has enough information and confidence to make a career path for themself before graduation.”
While in a previous role at Bay Port High School, Strassburg had hoped to split his time between teaching and the youth apprenticeship program. “It would have allowed me to experience the best of both worlds … Unfortunately, a conflict between contracts made that arrangement unfeasible,” he says.
But that setback led him to Pulaski High School, where 193 students and counting are now “gaining the hands-on experience to better themselves for their future.”
“I enjoy working with a diverse range of students, many of whom I might not have the opportunity to engage with in a traditional classroom setting,” says Strassburg, who coaches both the FFA Meat Evaluation team and Pulaski Baseball.
