Autumn Timblin says a pivotal college internship with the Einstein Project, which creates access to STEM learning opportunities, gave her hands-on experience in marketing and events. The experience led her to pursue a communication degree from UW-Green Bay.
“I credit the team and my mentors with giving me the opportunities to learn, grow and truly begin to discover myself both personally and professionally,” Timblin says.
Now working in the economic development landscape, Timblin sees how important educational opportunities like those are to building the workforce for local communities.
She says people can identify the most powerful ways to make a difference by asking questions: “What perceptions do others have about your community? What do other community members like and dislike?”
Tourism can have a huge impact on small towns, each with their own special aspects and businesses, Timblin says: “When you live and work in a community, we often take those things for granted, but to an outsider they can pose an exciting experience.”
