A couple of disappointing events with a former employer led Matthew Timler to start his own company. “It drives and empowers me to ensure that I keep my employees’ families top of mind and always ensure they feel valued in all aspects,” Timler says.
Nominator Emily Burger affirms that Timler helps his team “go further than expected in their lives and [has] a mentorship mentality with anyone he sees that needs that additional help. He has used his business to provide free services, donations and volunteer efforts to nonprofits and community businesses.”
The Plug Light Bulb team often wears pink gear, both for safety and to create awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Timler lost both of his grandmothers to the disease.
Timler also has done multiple presentations at area school districts that touch on the fact that “he was not the best teenager, [but] by working hard and being ethically driven, you can change your future for the best,” Burger says.
Timler says he enjoys watching others grow, “believing in them and seeing their future come true in front of their eyes — even though you saw the possibilities a long time ago.”
