Senior Director of Economic Development / Age 30
Envision Greater Fond du Lac
Raina Lyman says the most rewarding part of her professional journey has been “empowering local entrepreneurs to transform their visions into thriving businesses.”
Lyman, who arrived at her organization in June 2021 and took her current role in October 2024, says economic development isn’t just about numbers or policies: “It all comes down to relationships. The real work happens when you build trust with business owners, community leaders and partners.”
Prior to Envision Greater Fond du Lac, Lyman managed Blue Door Coffee Co. in her hometown of Campbellsport, including through the start of the pandemic. “The challenges of that time forced me to think creatively and adapt quickly, which ultimately built my resilience,” she says. “It also showed me the incredible loyalty and passion of my community.”
Now, her challenges center on “navigating the complexity of helping small businesses access the capital they need to grow — especially in rural areas where traditional funding isn’t always available,” Lyman says.
Investing in these small businesses and entrepreneurs strengthens entire communities, creates jobs and preserves the unique character of our region, she says.
