Sarah Paulson created Valkyrie Financial four years ago to focus “on serving women, because they deserve a financial advisor who doesn’t have to be reminded to ‘look her in the eyes’ and ‘listen when she speaks,’” Paulson says. And yes, she adds, this is real advice that is still being taught.
Paulson strongly supports gender equality efforts in the greater community as well, having served on the board of the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region from 2018 to 2024.
One pivotal experience was student-teaching summer school classes on LEGO robotics and computer animation to kids. “This taught me how to read body language and quickly tell if a student was understanding what I was explaining,” Paulson says. “Those skills are invaluable now when I’m discussing financial concepts with clients.”
Paulson, who has earned designation as a Certified Financial Planner, says it’s highly rewarding to help clients feel comfortable and confident in their financial journeys: “Everyone deserves good financial advice — it’s not just for ‘rich’ or old people anymore.”
